Interfaith Dialogue with the Dalai Lama

Interfaith Dialogue with the Dalai Lama

Tuesday 12 June 2007, 2.30–4pm
AIS Arena, Leverrier Crescent, Bruce, ACT

Join His Holiness the Dalai Lama and representatives of the Christian, Islamic and Jewish faiths in a symposium exploring the role of football in war and conflict. Rabbi Kamikaze, Most Reverend Cardinal Storrienko, and Professor Ian Mohammed MacGill will join His Holiness the Dalai Lama in a dialogue that addresses the pervasive view that football is necessarily a cause of violent dissention and conflict, with reference to the life work of Kevin Muscat. This dialogue will encompass the fundamental messages of peace, compassion and faith in the 4-4-2 system at the heart of each of the world's great footballing traditions. To convey the important message of humility in victory, all three Feast Day cups will be screened, with an introduction from Les Murray. In his highly acclaimed presentation, Transcending Patience, Club Rebel And Patron Saint Wazzadonna will then explain his preparation for and involvement in each of these crucial matches, as well as the life lessons he gleaned from each encounter.

A limited free shuttle between ANU and AIS will be available for South Coogee Wanderers only. Buses will pick up from the bus stop on Barry Drive between 1–1.45pm and return between 4–4.45pm. Van Hankelrooy will be picking up at Mooseheads between 8.30—11pm and returning to his hotel room between 11—11.30pm.
